Pertaining to our earlier letter and post/email messages sent out to parents, we are asking that students do not bring coats (unless needed), backpacks, stuffed animals, hats, gloves, blankets, etc. to school the next 2 days. Rest assured, we are taking precautions within classrooms/buildings to prevent the spread of bedbugs. We will be exterminating and deep cleaning buildings in the next few days and over Spring Break.

Parents of the Appleton City School District: The Appleton City School District has been notified of a case of bed bugs in our school district. The district is following the Department of Health guidelines in order to prevent the spread of bed bugs within our school. Your child may come home from school today with their belongings in a trash bag. Please take the time at home to inspect your child’s belongings such as coats, hoodies, hats, gloves and backpacks. If you find any bed bugs we would ask that you call the school office or school nurse, so that we may continue to focus on areas of the school that need to be examined and treated further. We will be exterminating and deep cleaning the school buildings in the next few days as well as the week of Spring break. Please refer to the attached information on bed bugs as well as: https://health.mo.gov/living/healthcondiseases/communicable/bedbugs/homeowners.php for more information. If you have any questions you may call the school at (660)476-2161 ext. 7

March 7, 2025 Parents/Guardians, There are students that received a Sun Bucks EBT card in error. Every student was sent a card instead of only students that receive free/reduced school meals. DESE has been made aware of the students that were sent a card in error. These cards will be canceled. DESE did not receive personal income information which I know was a concern for many parents. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at (660)476-2161, ext. 1004. Thank you. Bridget Mount Food Service Director

Our online lunch balance payment system is now updated on our app and on our website. On the website (www.appletoncity.k12.mo.us) click on the "Lunch Balance Payment" in the upper right-hand corner of our homepage. On our school app (which you can find on the Apple Store or Android under AC Schools if you haven't already downloaded), click "Menu" and you will see a "Lunch Balance Payment" link to click on. We are hoping the addition of e-Funds online payment option will be a more convenient way of paying student lunch balances. If you have any questions, please call the building offices.

Our Student Information System (SIS) provider, PowerSchool, is beginning to send email correspondence to parents letting them know that their servers had experienced a data breach. In the email, there is an offer of free credit protection for 2 years. The District does not have information regarding who was affected or what information was accessed, we just know we are a district who was affected. If you have any questions, please call the number on the email.
