4/4/25 Elementary Bulldog Families, See you all for a Snow Day make up next Monday, April 7th! It is important for your child to attend our make up days especially if they have had several other absences this semester. Did you know that if your child missed 16 school days this year they have missed a full month of instruction? We have several students who will receive an attendance letter from me next week. These will go out to any student who has more than 10 absences for the year. The form letter includes the school district policy for reporting absences once a student reaches more than 10 in a semester. If you have any questions about your child’s attendance, please contact the office. -Mrs. Bauer Calling All Kindergartners: It’s Time for Round- Up! It’s time to round up all of the Kindergarteners in Appleton City! We are excited to invite our 2025-2026 Incoming Kindergartners to join us on April 9th. Please share the information with any family, friends or neighbors who may have a student who will be age 5 before August 1, 2025. Please call the Elementary Office for an appointment 660-476-2161. Preschool WILL NOT be in session on April 9th. ‘ Parent Survey: We Need You!! Completed surveys will be entered into a $100 drawing! Are you the parent or guardian of one or more children under the age of five in St. Clair County? Do you know the frustration and fear of not having child care when you need it? Please help by sharing your experience - what’s working, what’s not, and what you need. ‍ Your information will help to improve child care and early learning in our community. It's been a crazy start to our morning but we are happy to report all of our students are safe and back in classrooms! But I have to brag on all of our students and staff members. When the tornado sirens sounded, all of our staff acted swiftly and followed our procedures just as we practice in drills. Students were accounted for quickly and they were amazing...especially considering the length of time we were under a warning. To say I'm proud of all of our students and staff is an understatement. Today was another reminder what a great school we have. I am thankful for all of our staff who work so hard every day to keep our students safe. These pictures were taken right as we gave the all-clear to go back to classes. To our parents and guardians, thank you for trusting us with your children...today and every day. Proud to be a Bulldog!

3/28/25 Elementary Bulldog Families, Congratulations to our Mathletes! Our students performed very well yesterday evening in Osceola. Pictures will be posted to the Facebook page. Also, we had a much higher than usual return on our Schoolwide Title I Survey. Thank you so much for taking time to complete these. The feedback will be used at our Title I Advisory meeting next week. See you all for a Snow Day make up next Monday, March 31st! West Central Early Childhood Planning Commission: Be on the lookout for a survey coming out next week regarding the availability of childcare for children age 0-5 in St. Clair County and how that availability or lack of availability impacts our local businesses, childcare providers, and families needing care. The survey will be distributed through Mrs. Bauer, as well as Mrs. Munsterman and Mrs. Siegismund with Ellett Memorial Hospital. Our school and healthcare teams are excited to be part of this commission led by New Growth Rural Development and Kids Win Missouri to evaluate supply and demand of care for 0-5 age children in our district and engage in planning to meet any gaps. Spread the Word! The 2025–2026 Kindergarten Enrollment and Screenings will be held on April 9th. Call the Elementary Office for an appointment! 660-476-2161 If your child will be 5 before August 1st, now is the time to begin thinking about Kindergarten enrollment requirements. The following items are required for enrollment: immunization records, state issued birth certificate, social security card and proof of residence. Did you know that your child can receive the immunizations that are needed to attend Kindergarten anytime on or after his/her fourth birthday? You do not need to wait until age five. We encourage you to have your child fully immunized now and bring the immunization record to school on the day of Kindergarten screening. If you have questions regarding required immunizations, please feel free to contact Nikki Piepmeier, School Nurse, at 660-476-2161, option #7.

Bulldog Families, We need your help! Our Appleton City Elementary Schoolwide Title I Survey is out and we greatly appreciate your help completing and returning 1 of those per family. As an incentive for those to be returned by Friday, we are doing a drawing for one elementary student to be "Principal for the Day"! Please note: We only need 1 form per family, but ALL students in the family will be entered into the drawing. Thank you so much for your help!

ACHS Senior Brianna Davis has been accepted to Southwest Baptist University (SBU) in Bolivar, MO. While at SBU, Brianna will study elementary education with plans to become a teacher and possibly return to school to become an administrator. Here's our Appleton City Elementary Friday Bulldog Update for 03/17/24

Pertaining to our earlier letter and post/email messages sent out to parents, we are asking that students do not bring coats (unless needed), backpacks, stuffed animals, hats, gloves, blankets, etc. to school the next 2 days. Rest assured, we are taking precautions within classrooms/buildings to prevent the spread of bedbugs. We will be exterminating and deep cleaning buildings in the next few days and over Spring Break.

Parents of the Appleton City School District: The Appleton City School District has been notified of a case of bed bugs in our school district. The district is following the Department of Health guidelines in order to prevent the spread of bed bugs within our school. Your child may come home from school today with their belongings in a trash bag. Please take the time at home to inspect your child’s belongings such as coats, hoodies, hats, gloves and backpacks. If you find any bed bugs we would ask that you call the school office or school nurse, so that we may continue to focus on areas of the school that need to be examined and treated further. We will be exterminating and deep cleaning the school buildings in the next few days as well as the week of Spring break. ACHS Senior Anre (Remy) McGee has been accepted to the University of Central Missouri and Missouri State University.  Remy plans to further his education at Missouri State University. He will start his first year as an undeclared student, allowing him to explore all potential majors, including majors focused on music within the School of the Arts. Congratulations, Remy!
